Government anti-narcotics agents seized on Wednesday, March 12, around P3.4 million worth of shabu following the arrest of a top drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Lanao del Sur, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.

PDEA Regional Director Gil Cesario P. Castro said that the suspect alias ‘Angko,’ 35, a resident of barangay Kanyugan Papandayan, Marawi City, has been running a widespread illegal drug trade, operating not only within the city but also extending his network to the nearby towns in Lanao del Sur.

He pointed out that the authorities carried out the drug bust following intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering in the area.

“The success of this operation highlights the government’s relentless campaign against illegal drugs. This is a significant accomplishment in our ongoing efforts along with the LGU Marawi City to dismantle drug networks operating in the area,” Castro stressed.

Aside from the 500 grams of shabu concealed in five knot-tied transparent plastic sachets wrapped in packaging tape and one open transparent/black plastic sachet, the agents also confiscated the buy-bust money, identification cards, and one Honda motorcycle.
