PH-BEST tankers vie for World Juniors berths in Malaysia swimfest

A strong 17-tanker Behrouz Elite Swimming Team (BEST) Philippines left for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday to compete in the 58th Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships slated on April 13 to 16 at the National Aquatic Center inside the Kuala Lumpur Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil.

Heading the squad are Mojdeh siblings Micaela Jasmine of Brent International School-Manila and Mohammad Behrouz of Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranaque.

Joining them are Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Paranque tanker Julia Ysabelle Basa and World Junior Championships veteran Filipino-British Ruben White.

The other members of the team are Yugo Cabana, Yohan Cabana, Yuan Parto, Samuel Caguimbal, Sierdon Caguimbal, Ashby Canlas, Peter Dean, Kimberly Estacio, Lleyton Rara, Zahjeed Sarmiento, Nathan Sason, Reinielle Trinidad and Mikail Trinidad.

“They are all set to compete. We trained hard before flying to Kuala Lumpur and we're optimistic of our chances and hopefully bring honors to our country,” said PH BEST team manager Joan Mojdeh.

The four-day meet will serve as a qualifying event for the World Junior Championships as well as the Asian Age-Group Championships.

“We are excited to compete in the Malaysian Age Group Swim Championship this year. This will be the first time our team will compete here in Malaysia,” added Mojdeh. THE MANILA TIMES
