Phuket retreat offers special package for LGBTQ+ guests

PHOTOGRAPH COURTESY OF THE SLATE The Slate is proud to welcome the LGBTQ+ community with its Rainbow Escape package, which blends world-class wellness, gastronomy and exclusive amenities.

The Slate, the whimsical, art-inspired, beachfront resort in Phuket, Thailand, is rolling out the rainbow-colored welcome mat for the LGBTQ+ community this season with a new package that allows guests to escape the city, immerse their senses in art and culture, and indulge in magical moments together.

Private Pool Suites of The Slate are havens of tranquility with inviting daybeds and private pools.

Nestled in a secluded corner of the resort town, with Bill Bensley’s dazzling dreamscapes, lush landscaped gardens and a sandy beach setting the scene, The Slate creates a sublime setting for couples, families or friends to get away from it all.

A member of the Design Hotels collection, this intimate retreat embraces guests in an ambience of post-industrial art, world-class wellness and global gastronomy, including a restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide.

Under the new Rainbow Escape package, LGBTQ+ travelers can book a three-day-and-two-night stay in a suite or villa and enjoy a wide range of exclusive extras to enhance their experience, including special “Hirs and Hirs” in-room amenities.

Having arrived at The Slate, with private transfers from Phuket International Airport, guests will be personally greeted with a colorful rainbow cocktail. Early 6 a.m. check-in is available for morning flights.

Each morning of the stay will start with a breakfast in the comfort of the suite or villa.

Couples can also share memorable moments together with a complimentary Thai cooking or flower arranging class, and a signature body scrub and oil massage at Coqoon Spa, which appears to be woven into the tropical gardens.

Male therapists are available upon request and in-room treatments can be arranged in some suites or villas.

Daily hotel credit will let every couple savor additional spa therapies and culinary experiences at the resort’s restaurants, or even sunset cocktails at the beach club, overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Daily credit of 2,000 bahts is offered to guests staying in a Pearl Bed Suite, D-Buk Family Suite or Private Pool Suite, while a generous 5,000-baht credit per day is available for Pearl Shell Suites or villas.

Every guest will be able to spend days unwinding in the resort’s pools or taking a stroll along the beach.

Wi-Fi is offered free-of-charge throughout the resort, perfect for posting plenty of pictures to social media.

Meanwhile, those seeking a more exhilarating vacation can contact the resort’s concierge for a guide to Phuket’s nightlife and transfers to the best gay clubs and bars in Phuket.

Visitors who choose to stay for five nights or longer will also be treated to a complimentary Thai set dinner at Black Ginger, the Michelin-recommended restaurant designed in the style of an ancient Thai village floating above a tranquil lagoon, or a romantic dinner under the stars. For special occasions such as anniversaries and honeymoons, visitors can request special benefits.

On their day of departure, couples can maximize their time with complimentary late check-out until 6 p.m. (subject to availability), before their private transfer back to the airport.

Recommended by the 2021 Michelin Guide, Black Ginger is a whimsical Thai restaurant that can only be accessed by a raft ride across a tranquil lagoon.

The Rainbow Escape package starts from 12,500 bahts for a two-night stay in a Pearl Bed Suite, with additional nights available from 4,400 bahts per night. Guests can book now and pay later.

Bookings are available now until 31 October for stays taken between 1 June and 31 October. A minimum two-night stay is required and reservations can be modified or cancelled up until seven days prior to arrival.
