PNP nets Cagayan Valley’s 57 most wanted

Intensified anti-criminality operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2) the past week led to the arrest of Cagayan Valley’s 57 Most Wanted Persons (MWP).

In his accomplishment report submitted to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Debold Sinas, PRO-2 chief PBGen. Crizaldo Nieves noted the stepped up Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) they conducted from 16 February to March 4 which resulted in the apprehension of 171 suspects, 57 of whom are listed as MWP.

Likewise, in support of the anti-insurgency measures of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), the Cagayan Valley police accounted for seven Milisya ng Bayan members and one Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) fighter as among those collared in separate tactical police operations.

PRO-2 also listed the arrest of 34 persons in 16 separate operations to enforce forestry laws under Presidential Decree 705, or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, Nieves disclosed.

PNP Units in the region likewise conducted 23 anti-illegal drugs operations during the said period resulting in the arrest of 29 suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Local police forces also nabbed 110 violators in 2 anti-illegal gambling operations, while eight operations against loose firearms resulted in the arrest of eight suspects.

The weeklong SACLEO drive of PRO2 culminated with 102 separate law enforcement operations that resulted in the arrest of 356 violators of special laws and local ordinances.
