MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) are strengthening their ties to form the best national women’s team possible for sorties abroad.
PNVF president Tonyboy Liao said they would hold a tryout soon for all PVL players as well as those from the collegiate leagues to form the best Alas Pilipinas squad possible.
“This initiative aims to provide a unified pathway for top volleyball talents across the country to represent the Philippines on the international stage,” the PNVF said in a statement Thursday.
Final details of the said tryout, according to Liao, would also be announced soon.
“This partnership is a significant step toward the betterment of Philippine volleyball, strengthening collaboration between national, professional, and collegiate programs,” it said.
“Together, PNVF and PVL are committed to developing elite athletes, expanding opportunities, and building a stronger future for Philippine volleyball.”
Part of the Filipinas goal was ending a gold medal drought in the Southeast Asian Games that spanned 21 years.
