The Poe family privately marked the 83rd birth anniversary of the late National Artist Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), with Sen. Grace Poe in quarantine.
FPJ was born on August 20, 1939. He would have been 83.
Brian Poe Llamanzares, Sen. Grace's son and FPJ's eldest grandchild, recalled the fondest memories of the King of Philippine Movies with their family through the years.
Earning his doctorate degree in Public Administration from the University of Perpetual Help, Llamanzares acknowledged the impact of the multi-awarded filmmaker, actor and director on his and his mother's pursuits and achievements.
“FPJ shared so much with us and gave the best he could in every way and at every turn for our family, his craft and the 'masa' he loved,” added Llamanzares.
“I wouldn't be where I am today without my grandfather,” said the doting godson, who had just earned his doctorate in Climate and Society from Columbia University.
On her Facebook post, Sen. Poe celebrated FPJ's birth anniversary and, marked by her son's accomplishment, writing, “Proud of you and your passion to make the lives of our countrymen better.”
“Sa kanyang ika-83 kaarawan, maging halimbawa sa ating lahat si FPJ para sa pananagutan, paninindigan at pagmamahal sa pamilya, kapwa at bayan,” Senator Poe posted.
It can be recalled that the Queen of Philippine Movies and wife of FPJ, Susan Roces or Jesusa Sonora Poe, passed away on May 20.
