Philippine authorities arrested Lyu Dong, also known as Boss Boga, on Thursday night in Laguna.
He is allegedly a key figure in the Lucky South 99 operations linked to various crimes.
The arrest occurred around 8 p.m. as he left his home during a social event.
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio confirmed that the operation was coordinated with the Bureau of Immigration and the Department of Justice.
Casio noted that Lyu Dong’s capture marks a significant step towards dismantling illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
During the arrest, there was minor resistance, but several associates were also taken into custody.
Lyu Dong is currently held at the PAOCC Detention Facility for further investigation.
Authorities are hopeful that he will provide leads on other illegal POGO operations in the country.
