“We're going to keep on fighting because we still have some games to play. We won't give up, we will continue to fight,” said Pogoy in Filipino.

Pogoy made this known following Gilas' 70-80 loss to Angola on Sunday, August 27 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the defeat dropping the Philippines to 0-2 in Group A.

That put the host country's bid of entering the second round as well its Paris Olympic qualification in peril.

In order for the Philippines to enter the second round, they need to beat world no. 10 Italy by at least 13 points on the 29th and also hope that the Dominican Republic defeats Angola on the same day.

“We fell short. They [the Angolans] also had so many crucial three points. We were beaten in the offensive rebounding department,” said Pogoy, who scored eight ponts on 4-of-9 shooting.

“We're going to look at the film and asses what are the other things that cost us the game,” added Pogoy.

Pogoy, though, made sure to thank the home crowd in attendance which gave Gilas an extra shot of energy in its comeback bid in the last few minutes that just fell short

“We're very grateful of them. Their support to us is really something else.”
