QC begins vaxing minors

Online booking for Covid-19 vaccination of minors (12 to 17) with comorbidities has opened in Quezon City.

This came after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved the proposal to inoculate children using vaccines that were granted Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drug Administration.

According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, the local government has seen in the past months how the virus has been affecting children and noted that it’s high time to expand the vaccination program to them.

The target group is considered part of the Priority Group A3.

Co-morbidities include medical complexity, genetic conditions, neurologic conditions, metabolic/endocrine diseases, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, HIV infection, tuberculosis, chronic respiratory diseases, renal disorders, hepatobiliary diseases and those who are immunocompromised due to disease or treatment.
