The celebrated “quorum” presence of 167 House members at the recent Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte proves that the administration “UniTeam” is alive and kicking.

Thus, said Davao Oriental 2nd district Rep. Cheeno Miguel Almario who was smack dab in the middle of the big gathering of solons last Friday, June 7.

“Buhay na buhay ang UniTeam sa Tagum City, Davao del Norte! (The UniTeam is alive and well in Tagum City, Davao del Norte!) What we have seen is an unprecedented show of unity among lawmakers for a program that highlights our commitment to bringing essential government services directly to the people, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind,” Almario said in a statement Sunday, June 9.

The two-day BPSF in Tagum was launched Friday at the Davao Del Norte Sports Complex. Leading the attending congressmen were House Speaker Martin Romualdez of Leyte 1st district and former president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of Pampanga 2nd district.

A quorum refers to 50 percent plus one of the current House membership of 307.

This meant that the solons in Tagum City would have been able to hold a session at the venue. But the BPSF isn’t about legislation; it’s about making public service more accessible to local folk.

A total of P913 million worth of government services and financial assistance was rolled out to a over 250,000 residents in Davao del Norte. This was the biggest number of beneficiaries recorded in all of the 19 installments of the traveling service caravan so far.

BPSF–which is spearheaded by President Marcos and Speaker Romualdez–has been instrumental in delivering financial aid, livelihood assistance, and other critical government services to various regions and provinces.

“The fair in Davao del Norte is a testament to the Marcos administration’s dedication to serving its citizens and the efforts of the House of Representatives under Speaker Romualdez in fostering national development through direct engagement and support,” Almario said.

The UniTeam refers to the Marcos-led ticket during the 2022 national elections. Marcos won the presidential race via historic majority vote.
