Racasa shares lead in NCR chess meet

WOMAN NATIONAL MASTER Antonella Berthe “Tonelle” Racasa of Pasig City defeated Simone Elise Esperanza of Marikina City in the third round on Tuesday to gain a share of the lead in the secondary girls chess tournament of the National Capital Region (NCR) regional meet at the Pinaglabanan Elementary School in San Juan City.

It was Racasa's third win in as many games as she joined unbeaten Precious Day Yecla of Manila City at the helm.

Racasa, whose local and international chess campaign is bannered by Hotel Sogo, outplayed Eloisa Jade Alcantara of Pasig City in the first round and Jennah Mae Frias of Caloocan City in round 2.

Yecla, on the other hand, subdued Lexie Grace Hernandez of Manila, Vienn Angela Borinaga of Pasay City and Rhonalyn Litang of Mandaluyong City in the first three rounds.

Racasa's next opponent is Ruelle Canino of Quezon City while Yecla's round four foe is Francine Elaine Magpily of Makati City.
