The management of Rain or Shine slapped a hefty fine equivalent to 15 days worth of salary on burly center Beau Belga for his participation in a non-sanctioned exhibition game in Cebu over the weekend.
The decision was made by the team's top-level management following its Tuesday morning meeting with Belga at the Rain or Shine head office in Pasig City.
The heavy fine, on top of the initial six-day suspension without pay assessed to Belga on Monday, was also due to the fact that the veteran slotman also played in Davao and Laguna. Both stints were also not sanctioned by the team or the league.
“Rain or Shine Team Management has concluded its internal investigation and found that Beau Belga breached his PBA Uniform Players' Contract by participating in exhibition games in Cebu, Davao, and Laguna. A fine of fifteen (15) days worth of salary has been imposed on Beau,” the team said in a statement.
Belga got into hot water after being caught playing in Cebu on Sunday. A video of the game went viral after Belga and NLEX bigman JR Quinahan engaged in a fight with a player from the opposing team.
