MANILA, Philippines – Five days after the Supreme Court (SC) ruling barring her impeachment, Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, July 30, issued a statement thanking her defense team for taking on the case.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Defense Team for taking on my case, even when no one else was willing to stand by me,” Duterte said.

She also thanked the petitioners who challenged the impeachment case initiated by the House of Representatives.
