THE special task force formed to investigate the killings of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and eight other individuals said a lot of revelations will happen in the next few days as 9 of the 10 suspects who are now under the custody of authorities are talking to authorities about their roles in the incident.

In a joint press conference on Wednesday in Camp Aguinaldo, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the suspects participated directly in the March 4 attack.

“We expect much more results in the next few days when we are able to speak to the rest of the suspects,” Remulla said. “We have yet to formalize their statements which we will be getting in the next few hours and next few days. We have to be very systematic. We have to be very, very thorough about the facts that we can elicit from these people.”

He said they expect the evidence will turn up against the masterminds in the coming days.

“We believed it would be a good time to name the masterminds after we have spoken to the nine suspects,” said Remulla.

He said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now in the middle of getting all the statements from the suspects.

“They are now trying to get all the most important facts out so that we can build our case that we will be filing in the next few days,” said Remulla.

Special Task Force Degamo Chairman Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., meanwhile, said of the 10 who are under custody, nine are former military personnel while one was a military trainee who failed to complete the course.
