Tests revealed that 100 percent of users showered reduced wrinkles, 90 percent presented improved firmness and 94 percent displayed refined texture within 12 weeks of using the breakthrough product.
It’s has not only been skincare that experienced a renaissance during this pandemic, but also a major anti-aging ingredient that now comes in a safer, gentler form.
Retinol is a familiar ingredient found in many skincare products because of its proven ability to visibly eliminate wrinkles and other noticeable signs of aging. However, despite the benefits it offers, it can be a tricky component for people with sensitive skin. Its potency causes a number of side effects, including dryness, redness and peeling, usually in the early stages of use. Without expert guidance, applying retinol to the skin can cause more inconvenience than benefit to the user.
For this reason, Kiehl’s, established in 1851, took several years developing a safe retinol — and finally, it unveiled its newest product, Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum. It’s a powerful skincare solution that combats the effects of aging, delivering a refreshed and youthful glow as a result of consistent use without irritation and other uncomfortable side effects.
Kiehl’s recognizes that products with retinol need to be introduced gradually into a person’s skincare routine, so it developed a breakthrough approach to this serum called
micro-dosing. The serum is formulated in a precise dose, carefully calibrated to promote cellular transformation. Its formula helps to strengthen the skin barrier and increase skin tolerance to retinol from the first application.

At its launch on 7 September 2021, Kiehl’s gathered a team of distinguished experts to provide an honest and candid discussion dealing with the effects of aging on the body. A trio of experts at the Retinol launch event shared insights on how women can live their best lives as they age while having the physical and mental health to enjoy it.
slow-down-aging skin care plan requires five steps: Protecting against sun damage, hydrating the skin, stimulating skin renewal, promoting collagen production and living a healthy lifestyle,” shares Dr. Mara Evangelista-Huber of Levana Dermatology Clinic. “An effective retinoid depends on its ability to transform into a retinoic acid, its stability, its concentration and user satisfaction.
The entire formulation of Kiehl’s Retinol is stable and consists of multifunctional ingredients that protect the skin barrier. That’s why it’s a great product for people looking to introduce retinol into their skincare routine.”
Dr. Evangelista told the Daily Tribune: “Retinol products can be used as long as the user prefers. Consistency is important in any skin care regimen, so it’s good to stick to a routine that one likes and the skin tolerates. There is no need to take breaks between retinol products unless one develops reactions to it, or if these do not deliver the results you need. Formulation really matters in retinoid products in general to be effective and to lessen the chance of irritation. An irritating product will not be used consistently, which is why products that are formulated to be gentler on the skin (e.g. microdose, slow release, microencapsulation, presence of skin supporting ingredients like ceramides) will reduce the potential of reactions.”

Celebrity diet coach and author Nadine Tengco also revealed her triple solution for healthy living: Stop eating foods with preservatives and artificial ingredients, flush out toxins with water and
anti-inflammatory herbs, and infuse the right foods into the body. “The best way to combat fat is with healthy fats like fish, and you want to have a whole range of colors in the vegetables you eat to get the right nutrients,” she stressed.
The final panelist at the event was Dr. Juan Estrada, the general manager from Physiare Physical Therapy Center, who stressed the importance of holistic health to significantly reduce the risk of disease. “I encourage everyone to find a sustainable exercise routine that they can do consistently.”
Kiehl’s commitment to efficacy and results is paramount and based on clinical evaluations. Recent tests showed that 100 percent of users showered reduced wrinkles, 90 percent presented improved firmness and 94 percent displayed refined texture within 12 weeks of using Kiehl’s Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum.
Another study showed that wrinkles were reduced after four weeks of use and skin looked firmer after eight weeks. Ninety percent of respondents agreed that their skin felt comfortable throughout use, even if they were using retinol for the first time.

The formulation of the product contains peptides, which supports and sustains the repair benefits of retinol, and ceramides, which releases vital skin barrier lipids to build retinol tolerance and prevent dryness. “We wanted to formulate a retinol product that could be used every day from the start with minimal discomforting effects, while still offering powerful anti-aging skin benefits,” explains Kiehl’s Global Scientific Director, Dr. Nancy Ilaya.
The Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum can be used during the day or night and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. To use, simply apply one pump to cleansed skin, followed by a moisturizer and broad-spectrum SPF during the day for best results. The product can be applied to areas where signs of aging may appear, such as the eye area, neck, décolleté and back of the hands.
The serum is compatible to layer over or under other Kiehl’s serums and moisturizers, such as Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, Super Multi-Corrective Cream, Hydro-Plumping and Vital Skin Strengthening Serum.
Kiehl’s Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum (P4,950) is now on Lazada and will be available in all stores nationwide starting 27 September. DSV
