BAGUIO CITY – Sagada, Mountain Province Mayor James Pooten Jr. on Saturday disclosed he is now on isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus disease.
Pooten’s swab test results came out on 26 March and was immediately advised by the Sagada Municipal Health Office to isolate himself to ensure he does not infect others.
“Rest assured, I will continue to exercise my duties remotely in the best possible way,” he stated.
The local chief executive then appealed to those he has had direct or close contact with the past 14 days to also undergo quarantine and contact their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) to be guided on the next steps to take.
Pooten also strongly urged the public the strict observance of minimum public health standards and always take the pandemic seriously.
“I hope to see much fewer members of our communities be in this situation,” he expressed.
As of 26 March, Sagada has a total of 21 confirmed Covid-19 cases with one related death – a 77-year-old who expired at the St. Theodore’s Hospital on the same day.
