The evening at the Presidential Suite of The Manila Hotel was filled with fun and good cheer on May 27, 2024, as former Transportation Secretary Arthur “Art” Tugade welcomed friends, family, and dignitaries to the launch of his latest book, “The Art of Living.”
This book serves as the second part of his first biographical book, “The Art of It All,” which focused on his life principles, values, and paid tribute to his family. “The Art of Living” now primarily focuses on his work during his tenure as Secretary of Transportation in the previous administration. Notably, the book highlights the unique and extraordinary challenges faced by his department during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Today, we are all gathered here as friends. We are zeroing in on an advocacy, journeying with a vision of leadership, and service to our people,” said Tugade during his speech. “This book includes a summation of my performance in DOTr (Department of Transportation), especially during the time of the pandemic. The book also includes anecdotes from my friends, golfing mates, and classmates. They are all there.”
Tugade also highlighted a unique feature of the book: QR codes within the pages wherein readers can access media files offering firsthand accounts, audio recordings, and other relevant content.
After his speech, Tugade, together with his family and guests, raised their glasses (filled with gulaman or buko juice, a request of the man of the hour) and toasted to his book, and to a life spent in service to the Filipino public, and dedication to his principles and family.
