[The Explainer] Heart Attack: Mrs. Escudero skips Paris Fashion Week

Out of the goodness of her fashionable heart, Mrs. Francis Escudero — a.k.a. Heart Evangelista, a.k.a. Love Marie Ongpauco — has decided she would sit out Paris Fashion Week this year, because it’s no place for any Filipino, especially a senator’s wife, to be at such a time as this.

Filipinos are angry over corruption in high places. Their hard-earned taxes, which they thought were helping secure them from natural disasters, have ended up funding the ultra-luxurious lifestyles of politicians and their families. Senator Escudero, unfortunately, has been named in a Senate inquiry as one of those who may have gained undue monetary advantages from being in power.
