Cala, better known as the iconic cat who sings “I go meow,” has passed away. It was revealed by her owner, Elizabeth Toth, through a video on TikTok. “I am devastated to share that Cala has passed away. I adopted Cala thinking she was young with a full life ahead of her. However, Cala had gotten sick and was not recovering,” posted Elizabeth. “Although we were optimistic and Cala fought very hard, she was not improving.”

Elizabeth said that Cala’s tests revealed that she was much older than initially thought by the shelter and her vet. “Cala ultimately passed away in my arms due to old age,” she added.
Cala was adopted from an animal shelter. Elizabeth says the ginger tabby is most vocal during playtime, and there are many videos of Cala singing on Elizabeth’s social media channels.
Cala will always be remembered as the beloved cat of the Internet. Rest in peace, Cala!
