Tigers, G Lanterns rip foes

SAN FERNANDO — Defending champion Davao Occidental-Cocolife blasted 1Munti 87-66 for its second straight win and boosted its hold on second in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.

Emman Calo barely missed a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, to go with four assists for the Tigers, while former PBA player John Wilson backed him up with 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Renzo Subido also had 10 points for Davao Occidental, which scored a big follow up to an 82-68 victory over Sta. Rosa, Laguna last Jan. 25 and rose to 9-1 in the meet presented by Winzir and co-presented by Skin Care Depot, SCD Cosmetics and Dumper party-list, and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton, with PBA and Gilas Pilipinas great Marc Pingris serving as commissioner.

The Emeralds, coming off an 88-79 triumph over Bagong Cabuyao-Homelab Nation, dropped to 2-7.

In the other game, the Pampanga G Lanterns dismantled Bicol 97-74 to get back on track.

Former PBA big man Jammer Jamito powered Pampanga with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Marlon Monte added 16 points and three rebounds.

Alecis Ramos, Kevin Santos, and Arvie Bringas also had 12, 12, and 10 points, respectively as the G Lanterns snapped a mini two-game slide, counting a painful 79-81 loss to Batang Kankaloo-Caloocan last Jan. 28, and improved to 5-3.

The Spicy Oragons tumbled to their seventh defeat in a row, including a 74-83 setback at the hands of Boracay last Jan. 26 for a 2-8 slate.

John Cantimbuhan and Domar Matillano scored 13 points each for 1Munti, while Acoy Alves got 12.

Kent Lao was the lone bright spot for Bicol with 17 points.
