TWO experts will discuss how sustainability in business promotes organizational innovation, enhances risk management, enables sustainable growth and helps secure feasible conditions for business in the long term in The Manila Times forum titled “Environmental Practices for Sustainable Businesses” at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.
The speakers are Glenn Banaguas, president of the Environmental and Climate Change Research Institute, and Ludwig Federigan, executive director of Young Environmental Forum.
Banaguas is a multi-awarded scientist, diplomat, educator, and one of the leading experts on environment, climate change and disaster risks.
He analyzes conundrums brought by climate change and extreme events using scientific models, mathematical simulations and data analytics; applies participatory methods to program development; and recommends science-based policy solutions.
Banaguas is the lone Filipino United Nations Sasakawa Laureate for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Conferred the Asia Leader Award for Sustainability Leadership, he is the youngest laureate of The Outstanding Filipino or Tofil, regarded as the Nobel Prize of the Philippines, in Environment Conservation and Science Diplomacy.
On the other hand, Federigan has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Don Bosco Technical College and was in the top five of the graduating class and president of the college student council.
He holds an executive master's degree in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management from the Asian Institute of Management and was ranked in the top four during the second term.
Federigan earned all required academic units leading to a Master in Business Administration from the University of San Carlos, topping the USC Graduate School Comprehensive Examinations, and was president of the graduate students' organizations.
He finished his Strategic Business Economics Program, graduating with merit, at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Federigan completed his Diploma in Supply Chain Management under the Business and Training Linkage Program of the PUM Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs in The Hague, Netherlands.
The forum will be hosted by The Times editors Dafort Villaseran and Peter Conrad Cariño and will be livestreamed on The Times Facebook, YouTube and Dailymotion accounts.
