MANILA, Philippines — TNT wing Glenn Khobuntin and Rain or Shine import Jaylen Johnson were metted with suspensions after the two exchanged punches in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash Friday evening.
Khobuntin and Johnson had a physical altercation in Friday's matchup.
In the fourth quarter, the two got into it as they tried to go for position. But it ended up with punches thrown as the players were tossed from the game with both getting slapped with flagrant fouls.
While Rain or Shine played without an import in the final six minutes of the game, the Elasto Painters escaped with a 112-109 win over Bol Bol and the rest of the Tropang 5G.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, cited in an article published by the league’s website, said that Khobuntin was handed a two-game suspension and a P70,000 fine, while Johnson was slapped with a one-game suspension and a P50,000 fine.
The two were summoned by the league on Saturday to explain their side.
“Sobrang nagsisisi. Maluha-luha,” was how Marcial described the TNT wingman.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘anong nangyari sa iyo? Ang ganda-ganda ng career mo, e.'”
Both Khobuntin and Johnson apologized for the incident.
