Twitter has revealed that it is finally rolling out some features that many users have been clamoring for over the years. Unfortunately, there’s a catch.
“We’ve heard from the people that use Twitter a lot, and we mean a lot, that we don’t always build power features that meet their needs. We took this feedback to heart, and are developing and iterating upon a solution that will give the people who use Twitter the most what they are looking for: access to exclusive features and perks that will take their experience on Twitter to the next level,” said the social media site in an official statement.
Called “Twitter Blue,” all-new features and tools will be available to users for a monthly fee, which means only those who choose to subscribe to Twitter Blue will have access to the following:
- Undo Tweets: This will allow users to read and review their sent tweets within up to 30 seconds of posting, which could help them spot spelling or grammar mistakes, or just retract their statements altogether.
- Bookmark Folders: This feature lets you organize all your bookmarked tweets into categorized folders.
- Reader Mode: This feature turns long Twitter threads into seamless, reader-friendly text.
- Other customization tools like changing Color themes and the App icon, and receiving Dedicated customer support.
Welcome to Twitter Blue — a new subscription service designed to give you more customization over your Twitter experience and access to premium features, including:

Twitter Blue will first be made available to users in Canada and Australia with the price of $3.49 CAD (PHP 137) and $4.49 AUD (PHP 164) respectively. Twitter plans to get feedback from this initial rollout before making the subscription service available to other regions.
“And for those wondering, no, a free Twitter is not going away, and never will. This subscription offering is simply meant to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who want it,” the site clarified.
So far, the announcement has gained mostly negative reactions, most of whom are calling out the site for hiding these quality-of-life features behind a paywall while others don’t seem to think that subscribing is worth it for the number of features it comes with.
