The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday said that Typhoon Kiko is now moving northwestward as it threatens extreme Northern Luzon.
PAGASA added that as of 1p.m. today, Typhoon Kiko was located 190 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kilometers per hour.
According to the weather bureau, Typhoon Kiko is moving northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour
Storm signal number 3 was raised in extreme northeastern portion of Cagayan, including Santa Ana, Gonzaga; the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands, including Babuyan Island, Didicas Island, Camiguin Island, Pamuktan Islands, Calayan Island and Panulitan Island; and the southern portion of Batanes like Basco, Mahatao, Uyugan, Ivana and Sabtang.
While storm signal number 2 was raised for the rest of Batanes, the rest of Babuyan Islands, the remaining eastern portion of mainland Cagayan, including Aparri, Camalaniugan, Lal-Lo, Gattaran, Baggao, Peñablanca, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Tuguegarao City, Iguig, Amulung, Alcala, Allacapan, Lasam, Ballesteros and Abulug; the northeastern portion of Isabela such as San Pablo, Maconacon, Divilacan and Palanan); and the northeastern portion of Apayao such as Flora, Santa Marcela, Luna and Pudtol
On the other hand, covered by storm signal number 1 include rest of mainland Cagayan, the eastern portion of Ilocos Norte Ilocos Norte, including Pagudpud, Adams, Dumalneg, Bangui, Vintar, Carasi, Nueva Era, Burgos, Pasuquin, Bacarra, Laoag City, Piddig, Solsona, Dingras, Sarrat and San Nicolas), the rest of Apayao, the northern portion of Kalinga, including Balbalan, Pinukpuk, City of Tabuk and Rizal; the eastern portion of Mountain Province, particularly Paracelis; the northeastern portion of Abra such as Tineg, Lacub and Malibcong; the northwestern and southeastern portions of Isabela, including Santa Maria, Quezon, Mallig, Roxas, San Manuel, Cabatuan, Aurora, City of Cauayan, Angadanan, San Guillermo, Dinapigue, San Mariano, Cabagan, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Quirino, Burgos, Gamu, Ilagan City, Luna, Reina Mercedes, Naguilian and Benito Soliven; and the northern portion of Aurora, particularly Dilasag and Casiguran.
“Today through tomorrow evening, Typhoon Kiko will bring heavy to intense with at times torrential rains over the northeastern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands and Batanes, heavy to intense rains over northern Isabela and the rest of Cagaya and moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, northern and central Aurora, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
PAGASA added that Typhoon Kiko will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing monsoon rains over the western section of Southern Luzon and Western Visayas in the next 24 hours.
