US tariffs’ impact downplayed

OUTBOUND shipments of Philippine-made goods are unlikely to be negatively affected by higher import tariffs ordered by US President Donald Trump against major trading partners, the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) said.

Philexport President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., in a statement, said the US — the top destination for Philippine exports — would continue buying from the country and even from China, which has been hit by a 10-percent tariff.
