Wild Rift turns six with major gameplay updates, new content

MANILA, Philippines — Riot Games is celebrating the sixth anniversary of League of Legends: Wild Rift with one of the game's biggest update cycles yet, introducing gameplay overhauls, new champions, returning fan-favorite content, and anniversary events throughout August.

At the center of Patch 7.2 is a redesign of Wild Rift's Enchantments system, which now treats enchantments as standalone active items instead of boot upgrades. The patch also includes adjustments to ranked progression, bounty mechanics, and the Trial and Revival system as Riot continues to refine the game's competitive experience.

The update cycle has also added new faces to the Rift. Following the arrival of Wild Rift-original champion Norra, Riot rolled out Ahri's Art and Sustainability Update (ASU), refreshing one of League of Legends' most recognizable champions for mobile players.

Players can also take part in "Echoes on the Rift”, which allows users to link their League of Legends and Wild Rift accounts to unlock rewards and personalized memories. Riot is also preparing “Annie-versary", a tribute to the stream that first introduced Wild Rift to fans.

Additional content is on the way, with Cho'Gath set to join the roster on August 7 and the popular Crystal Rose skin line arriving on August 14. The anniversary update cycle also includes previously released collections such as Weather Deity and Summer Party.

In line with the game's anniversary, Wild Rift is also tapping into League of Legends nostalgia through "Classic Moment”, an in-game event that lets players revisit iconic abilities, items, runes, and mechanics from the franchise's history. AAA ARAM Classic is likewise making its return on August 7.

Fans can also see the latest changes in action through Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Split 2, as the country's top teams compete on the Road to Smash this August. Winners of Split 2 will qualify for the national championship finals from September 25-27, where top teams from both splits will battle for a share of the P1-million prize pool and the chance to represent the Philippines at Smash 2026 in South Korea later in the year.
