The First Lady was feted during the recent commencement exercises for the WVSU College of Law where she had been teaching law since 2022.

The conferment rite was led by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Dr. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera, WVSU President Dr. Joselito Villaruz, and WVSU College of Law Dean Atty. Pauline Grace Alfuente.

“I am deeply humbled to receive this award. Needless to say, I shall try my best to live up to your expectations today and in years to come,” Marcos said.

Marcos initially started teaching criminal law in 2022 and she is currently a part-time professor of public international law.

Ilonggos criticized the WVSU when Marcos first taught at the university. Iloilo was not a stronghold of her husband, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and supported the candidacy of former Vice President Leni Robredo.

The First Lady has roots in Iloilo. Her father Manuel Araneta Jr. is from Iloilo City while her mother Milagros Ledesma Cacho has roots from Iloilo and Negros.
