The 15 Filipino crew members of the marine vessel Al Jasrah are safe and accounted for after a drone attack allegedly orchestrated by rebels, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

In a statement, the DMW said that the marine vessel Al Jasrah faced a missile strike while navigating the Bab al Mandeb Strait on Friday, Dec. 15.

The DMW stated that it received notification from the ship’s manning agency and its shipping company, assuring them of the crew’s safety.

DMW Officer-in-Charge, Hans Leo J. Cacdac, has directed the agency’s Sea-Based Operations Units to “continuously monitor the situation and work closely with the vessel’s manning and shipping company in assuring the safety of the Filipino seafarers.”

In addition, he also instructed the manning agency to meet with the families and relatives of the crew members and the DMW to provide regular updates on their conditions and safety.
