Three “flying voters” were arrested in Binondo, Manila on the day of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Manila Police District (MPD) said the suspects were not Manila residents. The MPD did not disclose the names of the suspects.

According to the police report, the incident occurred inside a polling precinct at Raja Soliman High School in Urbiztondo, Binondo at around 11 a.m.

Police said poll watchers went to the designated police assistance desk in the area to report the three men who allegedly attempted to vote using names that were not theirs.

The suspects were caught lying when the staff noticed that the suspects provided the wrong details during registration.

Investigators said a cellphone was also recovered from the suspects with the names of the four running councilors that the suspects were supposed to vote for in exchange for P500.

The arrested suspects were charged with violation of Article 22 Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines and are currently detained at the MPD detention cell.
