6 dead, including 4 children, in Ottawa multiple homicide

Six people — four children and two adults — were killed inside a house in the Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven late Wednesday night, police say. One person was arrested at the scene.

Six people — four children and two adults — were killed inside a house in the Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven late Wednesday night, police say.

Calls to 911 started coming in at about 10:50 p.m., directing Ottawa police officers and paramedics to a house on the 300 block of Berrigan Drive. It's a residential street off Strandherd Drive close to an elementary school and a high school.

Inside, emergency responders found six people dead. Their identities have not yet been confirmed, police said.

One person was arrested at the scene.

The force said there is no ongoing risk to public safety.

"This is a tragic and complex investigation, and investigative teams remain on Berrigan Drive," the release states.
