AP.Bren expects tougher matches in M5 playoffs

Playing tight games in the group stage was hardly a concern for AP.Bren head coach Francis “Duckeyy” Glindro, believing that it actually helped the team gear up for an expected deep run into the M5 World Championship playoffs.

There were some moments that the MPL Philippines Season 12 champions fell behind early but still managed to pull off come-from-behind wins in the series against Team Flash and Team Lilgun.

“Im thankful that there are games like that, you know we had to play our brains out because that way we got to see that small mistakes that we need to patch up, put a band-aid on and fix for whatever show we are going to perform up stage in the knockout stages,” said Duckeyy in the aftermath of the team’s 2-0 sweep of Mongolia’s Lilgun to cap the perfect group stage run.

In that match, the Beehive trailed by as many as 4.7K gold and 6-2 kill score before Marco “Super Marco” Requitano took over in the late game with his signature Claude pick.

The series prior, AP.Bren found itself staring at a 9K gold deficit, largely due to the lackluster early game after Team Flash took advantage of the wrong emblem setup of David “Flaptzy” Canon on the Arlott pick.

“I’m thankful that it’s happening so we can prevent that from happening in our more important matches,” added Duckeyy.

As competitive as the group stage matches, AP.Bren is expecting tighter and tougher games in the playoffs and Duckeyy vowed to make sure the Philippine representatives are bringing their A-game.

“We’re looking forward to playing at the top level when the knockouts stage comes in so I know every other team has something in their pockets. We’ll dig deep on ours straight from the barrel for whatever that is left out of creativity and bring our A game.
