‘Bleisure’ beckons at Belmont Hotel Mactan

On June 13, homegrown brand Belmont Hotel officially opened its doors at the sprawling Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, making the “bleisure” — business and leisure — experience available for both tourists and working travelers.

The hospitality concept is undoubtedly perfect for Lapu-Lapu City, which, in 2022 alone, recorded over 500,000 vacationers and business travelers based on data from the Department of Tourism. Remember, pandemic restrictions still existed at the time, proving that Lapu-Lapu's pristine beaches, exciting water activities and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport's proximity, all within the city, are irresistible to both sets of visitors.

“The island of Mactan is populated by hotels and resorts focusing heavily on leisure and wellness, so we are very excited to bring a new kind of hospitality experience through Belmont Hotel Mactan,” Cleofe Albiso, managing director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement.

“The hotel will host guests in the area for both business and leisure — or 'bleisure' as we like to call it. Guests can expect the usual top-notch amenities that enable rest and relaxation. But, because we want to address the need for Mactan to be MICE- [meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions] ready, we have also built facilities here specifically for MICE events, as well as team buildings and intimate corporate events,” the executive added.

The 20-storey hotel, located along Newtown Boulevard, houses 550 guest rooms and suites.

Guests can choose to book a Superior Deluxe (up to 26 sqm), Deluxe Premier (up to 36 sqm) or Junior Suite (up to 50 sqm). All rooms are fully equipped with essential amenities, such as in-room electronic safety boxes and tea and coffee-making facilities.

Arguably, the expansive views of Magellan Bay and Hilutungan Channel are also among the highlights of these units.

Central amenities should also fit the liking of leisure guests, what with a swimming pool (including a children's pool), wet and dry sauna and viewing deck easily accessible to all guests.

Meanwhile, Belmont Hotel Mactan features four function rooms for business travelers, each seating at least 30 guests. Two function rooms can even be merged to seat 100 guests theater style.

Meeting rooms are also available, equipped with audio-visual and lighting equipment for small-sized focus group discussions.

Also worth mentioning is Belmont Hotel Mactan's interior design, which reflects Cebu's rich history, marine life, culture and heritage. The lobby boasts a mural celebrating Lapu-Lapu, while the food outlets are adorned with displays inspired by the many festivals of Cebu and various guitars, one of the city's most famous products. Even the rooms bear touches of Cebu culture, with six different mural designs interchanged in each room.

To be sure, Belmont Hotel Mactan is also prepared to serve guests with varying palates.

The hotel's Belmont Cafe features Asian (including Filipino) and Mediterranean cuisines. There's also the Float Pool Bar, with an extensive choice of snacks and beverages, and the Zabana Bar & Lounge, where expert bartenders can whip up cocktails and refreshing mocktails.

Meanwhile, for those eager to taste authentic Cebuano delicacies, Belmont is just a five-minute walk from Mactan Alfresco, a hawker-type dining destination serving the famous Cebu lechon.

A few minutes' drive from Belmont are the must-see tourist destinations of Sto. Niño de Cebu Mactan Parish, Mactan Shrine, and for the music lovers, Alegre Guitar Factory.

All these points combined make Belmont Hotel Mactan the ideal new destination for bleisure travelers.

But if anyone needs any more convincing, hotel general manager Johnson del Valle guarantees that the top-notch amenities of the property are always complemented with first-class hospitality.

“That's our secret ingredient — the incomparable hospitality that everyone in our family here in Belmont Hotel Mactan is ready to offer all our guests,” del Valle promised.
