Marc Cuenco and Clint Escamis delivered when it mattered most as Mapua reaffirmed its mastery over Arellano, 84-75, in NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Friday, Nov. 17.
Cuenco topscored with 17 points while the Rookie-MVP candidate Escamis tallied 15 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead the Cardinals in claiming their fifth consecutive win for 14-3 atop the helm.
Despite already having clinched a Final Four berth, the Cardinals still showed their might particularly in the final frame where they surged to their biggest lead, 79-64, and never looked back.
Mapua could seal the top seeding – a first in Randy Alcantara’s life as Cardinals coach – if it beats Jose Rizal University in its final elimination round game on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
