Carl Jammes Martin signs with MP Promotions, PBC, TGB

Filipino rising star Carl Jammes Martin signed with the MP Promotions of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in his bid to challenge the world’s top boxers and someday become a champion.

The undefeated pride of Ifugao was welcomed by no less than Pacquiao as he also inked a deal with US-based Premier Boxing Champion (PBC) and TGB Promotions, aiming for his first foray overseas with the goal of landing a title fight and ultimately becoming the next Filipino world champion.

“Welcome to the MP Promotions,” Pacquiao told the 24-year-old Martin who is also set to face Thai Chaiwat Butkrathok for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) global super bantamweight belt on Monday, Dec. 18, at the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque City.

“We are happy and proud to announce the signing of Carl Jammes Martin to the MP Promotions,” the boxing great added.

For Martin’s part, he is thrilled to join an elite list of Filipino boxers under MP Promotions led by unified world super bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales, Eumir Marcial, Jerwin Ancajas and Mark Magsayo, among others.

As fitting as his goal to become a world champion, Martin is also joining a roster of world boxing champions in Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo “Alvarez and Issac “Pitbull” Cruz, to name a few, under PBC.

“In joining Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions and TGB Promotions and MP Promotions, I’m honored to be stablemates with the best fighters in the world like my fellow Marlon Tapales, Mark Magsayo, Jerwin Ancajas, Vincent Astrolobio and Reymart Gaballo, among other Filipino fighter.

“This newest chapter in my career will truly boost my aim of becoming a future world champion that PBC in partnership with MP Promotions will be very proud of,” added Martin who currently boasts an impressive 22-0 record, with 17 knockouts.

MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons is confident that Martin has the potential and the tools to be one of Philippine boxing’s future.

“Carl Jammes Martin has everything to offer from his good looks up to his extraordinary boxing skills. We believe he will go far,” said Gibbons who vowed to bring Martin to the US to intensify his training and get a chance at challenging the best boxers in the 122-pound class.
