Health management has become more personalized and connected with technology. At CES 2024, a myriad of connected health devices are showcased, focusing on collaboration and innovation within the healthcare space. Apart from addressing healthcare challenges, expect topics such as telehealth, AI-powered diagnostics, and remote patient monitoring devices to be covered as well.

With telemedicine, access to medical experts has improved and healthcare delivery enhanced. One exciting health gadget that will revolutionize at-home check-ups is the BeamO device by Withings.

Since 2009, Withings has been revolutionizing healthcare with its health tech products and services, starting with the first-ever connected body scale. Now at CES 2024, Withings introduced BeamO. BeamO is not just a thermometer; it is also an ECG, oximeter, and stethoscope. This 4-in-1 device can provide the basic medical information or vital signs that doctors usually take during a consultation.

BeamO has the following features:

  • BeamO has 4 sensors, namely a contactless thermometer, a digital stethoscope, 1-Lead Electrocardiogram and a miniaturized oximeter.
  • BeamO is a portable health device smaller than a smartphone.
  • It features an 8-month battery life and can be charged using a USB-C cable.
  • Connection is via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Can be used by 8 users in the same household.

Below is a summary of what BeamO can do:

  1. Through a digital stethoscope, BeamO can listen to lungs and heart sounds. It can help doctors evaluate respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD. Remember, only doctors can interpret these sounds.
  2. Through automatic temporal artery detection, BeamO can take the patient’s body temperature.
  3. Through its medical grade 1-lead ECG, BeamO can detect AFib or atrial fibrillation and can provide notifications in case heart rates are too low or too high.
  4. Through its oximeter, BeamO can measure blood oxygen levels which can help assess patient’s respiratory system.
  5. Through the Withings app, patients will be able to track and record their symptoms. They can also set reminders or schedule to take readings. Best of all, patients will be able to share their BeamO readings and records to their doctors in real-time.

Depending on FDA clearance, Withings plans to bring BeamO to the market by the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2024.
