Converge raps ROS, stays unscathed in pocket tourney

Converge pulled away in the second half behind its three-point shooting to knock down Rain or Shine, 120-111, closing in at sweeping the 2023 Converge Pocket Tournament on Sunday, October 15 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyongz

The FiberXers fired 18 triples, with Mark Tallo and import Tom Vodanovic accounting for half of that output to turn the tables against the Elasto Painters in the last two periods.

Rain or Shine held a 57-53 lead at the half behind import Dajuan Summers' 21 points.

The NBA veteran though sat out the rest of the second half as coach Yeng Guiao let the locals play in the final two quarters.

Vodanovic led Converge with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Tallo added 24, five rebounds and four assists.

Rookie Deschon Winston added 23 while Mike Nieto chipped in 12 and eight boards.

Andrei Caracut led the ROS locals in scoring with 16 points, Leonard Santillan had 12, while Shaun Ildefonso and rookie big man Keith Datu chipped in 11 apiece.

The FiberXers improved to 2-0 and could sweep the four-team pocket tournament on Tuesday when they clash with the Phoenix Fuel Masters. Converge router Blackwater, 87-75 on Saturday.

Rain or Shine fell to an even 1-1 record, with its first win courtesy of its 109-105 triumph over Phoenix.

The team closes the mini-tournament against Blackwater also on Tuesday.
