Cops in Roxas, Or. Mindoro steps up security measures for Christmas

The Roxas Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Oriental Mindoro has intensified the security measures which its chief of police said will be implemented beyond the Yuletide season.

Police Capt. Clyde B. Kalyawen, chief of police of the Roxas MPS said the move is to sustain the decline in criminal incidents that the town recorded since January this year.

Based on the PNP Crime Information, Reporting, and Analysis System (CIRAS), Roxas town recorded a total 80 crime incidents this year, which reflected a 13.97% decline compared to 93 last year.

“This significant drop in crime volume is a result of our strong partnership with the community, and I express my gratitude to them. They play an indispensable role in the success of community policing,” said Kalyawen.

For this Holiday season, Kalyawen said he already ordered an intensified security measures as part of the Oplan Paskuhan 2023” that include conduct of police visibility efforts and inspections of various business and financial establishments, dialogues with stakeholders, and enforcement of traffic laws and regulations across different barangays in Roxas.

“The primary objective of these activities was to ensure the maintenance of peace and order during the festive season, promoting a secure and safe environment for both the local community and visitors in the municipality of Roxas,” said Kalyawen.

“We are dedicated to fostering a safe and secure environment where everyone can enjoy the holiday season without any worries,” he added.
