Creating a one-stop destination for eco-living

More than just a buzzword, an increasing number of individuals Filipinos included, are actively exploring eco-friendly options they can incorporate in their everyday life.

Once a personal commitment is made, living up to these ideals involves extending the principles to encompass the beginning and end of one's day: the home.

Embracing sustainable living can start with something as simple as enjoying morning coffee brewed using sustainably sourced beans and culminate in the conscious choice of environmentally friendly organic sheets to unwind on at night.

By adopting considerate practices, it is possible to incorporate sustainable living into various aspects of our lives.

Acknowledging the need for a one-stop destination for eco-luxury products and elevated eco-living, Rustan's Home Division has carefully curated local and international brands that offer sustainably-sourced products and/or practice environmentally friendly production methods.

For the bedroom, bed linens from Malouf and Linen & Home are worth mentioning together with mood candles from Aromabotanical.

Bath products by For Keeps, L'Occitane, and L:a Bruket definitely awakens the senses.

Particularly for For Keeps, founder Pia Sy emphasized the importance of using clean beauty products not just for one's self, but also for the environment.

“I chanced upon the clean beauty movement in the US and Europe and that really caught my eye. Since I love soap and personal care products, I searched for a business partner who could create clean beauty products,” Sy told The Manila Times at the Rustan's Rustan's Eco-Living Soirée earlier this month.

“Ana Niguidula [partner and formulator] has done wonders in utilizing non-toxic ingredients. Our base products are extra virgin olive oil and virgin coconut oil. They are not only healthy for the skin, they are also healthy for the environment,” she continued.

For Keeps offers bar and liquid hand and body soaps in variations of Arise, Cleanse, and Unwind.

Meanwhile, kitchen items from Kitchen Craft, Lacor, Jean Dubost, Charles Viancin, Stasher, Pebbly, Bambu, and My Drap take center stage along with kitchen appliances that boast sustainability and elegance such as Breville, Nespresso, SMEG, Delonghi and Dyson.

Lastly, environment-friendly and sustainable products are also available with Gourmet Farms and Philippine Wines.

“Gourmet Farms was founded in 1987 and for almost four decades, sustainability has been part of our DNA. Until now, we still practice traditional farming methods, our mechanization is very minimal and we still use carabaos to plow our fields in Silang, Cavite,” shared Gourmet Farms' Judd Reyes.

The proudly-local brand offers coffee, salad dressings, organically-grown produce, and culinary herbs, just to name a few.

Located at the 5th level of Rustan's Makati, quadrants are beautifully set up to take the customer on an eco journey through the lenses of outdoor living and dining, bed, bath, clean beauty, kitchen and kitchenware, and a lounge to comprehend everything.
