‘Dodong’ out but another LPA likely – Pagasa

Cloud clusters forming outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) could develop into another low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday, hours after Tropical Depression “Dodong” blew out.

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said they are closely monitoring the cloud formations in the eastern section of Mindanao.

“We are not discounting the possibility that these cloud clusters could develop into an LPA in the coming days,” he said.

Pagasa said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is the lone weather system affecting the country.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro and the northern portion of Palawan will have monsoon rains that could trigger floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, occasional rains will prevail in Metro Manila, Western Visayas, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and the rest of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan).

The rest of Luzon will have overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated downpour or thunderstorms.
