Dwight Ramos cleared to play for Gilas Pilipinas

Gilas Pilipinas received an encouraging news on Friday as sweet-shooting Dwight Ramos has been cleared to play from his leg injury.

The 24-year-old Filipino-American wingman showed up on Friday's practice with Gilas Pilipinas at the Meralco gym.

“All good with Dwight, he's been practicing already since yesterday (Thursday),” Gilas team therapist Dexter Aseron told the Manila Times.

Ramos missed the team' sixth and last tuneup game in its Europe training camp last week.

That game saw the national squad defeating Lithuania's World University Games squad, 125-102, in Kaunas led by naturalized player Justin Brownlee.

With the 6-foot-4 Ramos cleared to join the training camp, Filipino fans will now have to wait for the status of Scottie Thompson's injury.

The 6-foot-1 Thompson suffered a metacarpal fracture in his shooting hand during practice in Lithuania. The timeline of the reigning PBA Most Valuable Player's return will only be known after his scheduled consultation with a hand specialist.

Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled to play in a mini pocket tournament in China from August 2 to 5 against teams from Iran, Lebanon and Senegal.
