The Kings' entry is seen as move by the EASL to fill in the spot vacated by the Bay Area Dragons, who, a few days back, were reported to have been disbanded.

The New Taipei Kings finished a strong second to three-peat champion Taipei Fubon Braves in the recent P. LEAGUE+ season.

The Kings has been bunched at Group B, along with Korean Basketball League (KBL) runners-up Seoul SK Knights, Japan B.LEAGUE champions Ryukyu Golden Kings, and PBA Governors' Cup runners-up Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

“EASL is ecstatic to welcome the New Taipei Kings to our inaugural home-and-away season and to grow our partnership with the P.LEAGUE+. We look forward to bringing top Japan B.LEAGUE, Korea Basketball League (KBL) and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams to New Taipei in front of the Kings' sellout crowds,” said EASL chief executive officer Matt Beyer in an official statement posted at the regional basketball league's website.

New Taipei will have its dynamic duo of double-double machine and Import of the Year Byron Mullens

as well as guard Joseph Lin leading the way under coach Ryan Marchand.

Mullens averaged over 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Kings this past season, while Lin, younger brother of former NBA player Jeremy, normed 13.0 points, 5.0 assists and over 2 rebounds.
