‘Egay’ leaves over P1B damage to crops, infrastructure in 13 PH regions

SUPER Typhoon “Egay” has exited the country but left behind a trail of death and destruction in at least 13 regions in the Philippines.

Damage to agriculture has been estimated at P833,889,970.48, livestock at P23,762,020 and infrastructure at P1,191,137,926.36, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Saturday.

A total of 76,093 farmers and fisherfolk and 91,651.56 hectares of crops were affected, the NDRRMC said.

At least 155 roads, bridges, schools and government facilities were reported to have been damaged at the height of the typhoon.

The fatalities have risen to 14, 6 of which have been confirmed while eight are being validated.

At least 13 people were reported injured and 20 remain missing as of press time, the NDRRMC said.
