MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso star Heart Evangelista explained why her dad Rey Ongpauco failed to attend again at his daughter's renewal of vows with Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
In the comments section on Heart's post on Instagram, a fan asked why Rey didn't attend the ceremony.
"Congratulations po sorry to ask po wala po si daddy?" the fan commented.
Heart answered "he is recovering :)."
Heart's mother Cecilia, however, attended the ceremony and walked Heart down the aisle.
"So happy for her, and I'm happier because I'm around to witness this," Cecilia said.
"Finally, I arrived. Nine years too late, but made it still," she told Heart.
It can be recalled that Heart previously revealed that her parents skipped her 2015 wedding because they did not approve of her relationship with the politician.
In Heart's vlog last 2021, Rey said that he regretted not attending his daughter’s wedding.
"Sayang. Naging bati na sana kami no'n," Rey answered Heart on why they skipped the wedding.
Heart and Chiz’s renewal of vows was attended by the couple’s families and close friends in Balesin Island.
Heart was recently launched as new endorser of payment platform GCash.
