House of Representatives members have not been issued their no. 8 protocol plates, Secretary General Reginald Velasco clarified on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 15.

“The House of Representatives has not released, or authorized the use of, official plates for vehicles of House members,” Velasco said in a statement.

No. 8 license plates are special plates made for congressmen or House members.

None of the solons have been issued their protocol plates in the current 19th Congress.

‘I am seeking representation with the Land Transportation Office and [Metropolitan] Manila Development Authority to apprehend the drivers of vehicles bearing ‘8’ plates and confiscate the expired or spurious ones,” Velasco said.

There are over 300 House members in the 19th Congress.

Velasco is the highest-ranked civilian official in the legislative chamber.
