“We will use this fund to assist our police forces in their operations and other needs,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.

An P18-million confidential fund was allocated this year, bulk of which went to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Treñas vowed stronger support to ICPO following the death of Police Staff Sgt. Michael Malan, a member of the ICPO Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team who was killed in an October 29 anti-drug operation.

He has expressed alarm over the big volume of shabu confiscated in recent anti-drug operations, the latest of which was the P20.4 million from three drug suspects in Jaro District on November 9.
