Jeron inks two-year deal with Beermen

(UPDATE) A FEW days after tying the knot with his longtime girlfriend Jeani Tsoi, forward Jeron Teng has found a new home in the PBA after signing a two-year deal with San Miguel Beer.

Veteran player agent Danny Espiritu, who represents Teng, confirmed his ward's new move in his pro career.

“Yes, he just signed a two-year deal, so newly married and then a new team,” Espiritu told The Manila Times on Wednesday.

Teng signed his fresh deal at the San Miguel Corp. office in Ortigas, Pasig, in the presence of Espiritu and SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua.

Teng, who belonged to the 2017 PBA draft class, ended Season 2022-2023 by averaging 11 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 10 games for Converge, which reached the quarterfinal in the Governors' Cup, before being knocked off by San Miguel Beer.

He was given his release papers last September by Converge, allowing him to negotiate and eventually sign up with his new ball club.

The Beermen boosted their stock with the addition of Teng, as the La Salle forward joined forces with six-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez and comebacking Terrence Romeo.

San Miguel, the all-time winningest ball club in PBA history, stands as the biggest stumbling force for Ginebra, which is set to defend the Commissioner's Cup crown when the PBA Season 48 begins on November 5.

Interestingly, Teng's dad, Alvin, started his PBA career with San Miguel where he spent his first nine seasons from 1986-1994 with the Beermen, being part of the Grand Slam squad during the 1989 season.
