MANILA, Philippines — Artist Isabel Santos, girlfriend of actor John Lloyd Cruz, is among the several creatives whose works will be on display at the ALT Philippines 2024 fair in February.
Nine galleries — Artinformal, Blanc, The Drawing Room, Galleria Duemila, Finale Art File, MO_Space, Underground, Vinyl On Vinyl, and West Gallery — will come together in Hall A of the SMX Convention Center from February 21 to 25, 2024 for its third project under ALT.
These nine galleries and 200 contemporary artists from within and outside the country will display opuses to continue the fair's goals of developing art education, patronage, and community engagement.
ALT Philippines 2024 will see special installations by veteran artists like Juan Alcazaren, Geraldine Javier, Pete Jimenez, and Oca Villamiel, while Santos will create a mural using Boysen Paints.
A group show on the moving image will be curated by artist-writer Cocoy Lumbao in a video room; multidisciplinary art unit Somatosonic will execute a live performance in a breakout space; and photographer Raena Abella will conduct seated live sessions for ambrotype portraits.
For the duration of ALT Philippines 2024, ALT Conversations will be held twice a day for dialogues on Philippine contemporary art yet to be thoroughly discussed.
Revenues from fair's silent auction will benefit scholars of the Philippine High School for the Arts while the social responsibility project is a collaboration with Univers.
Last October, Cruz confirmed that he and Santos were in a relationship after two years of speculations by fans, amplified by attendance at each other's events and capturing photos together.
