Kai Sotto benched for second game

FILIPINO NBA hopeful Kai Sotto logged another DNP (did not play) in the score sheet as the Orlando Magic bowed to the Indiana Pacers 86-106 in the NBA Summer League at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday (Manila time).

Not even the repeated chants of “We want Sotto!” by Filipino fans inside the arena is enough for Magic coach Dylan Murphy to field the 21-year-old Sotto in the game.

The video of Sotto's fans chanting has gone viral on social media.

Murphy fielded 11 players in the game, led by Caleb Houstan, who scored 18 points.

Jett Howard added 10 points, while this year's sixth overall draft pick Anthony Black unloaded eight points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Magic.

Ben Sheppard scored 23 points for the Pacers, who had five other players score in double digits.

Sotto, who also did not see action in Orlando's Summer League debut against Detroit last Sunday, could make his first appearance in the preseason league against the New York Knicks on Thursday, July 13, or against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, July 14.
