Mandal lost to Haidong in the two-round gold medal bout with the latter coming out on top via winner by point difference (WPD) at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre.
The 27-year-old Mandal defeated Avazbek Amanbekov of Kyrgyzstan, 2-0, in the semifinal yesterday to give himself a shot at a gold medal.
