THE city government of Manila announced on Friday its first-ever fashion show dubbed “Rampa Manila” on June 20.
Renowned fashion icons Albert Andrada, Michael Leyva, Marlon Tuazon, Puey Quinones and Jo Rubio will be showcasing their modern Filipiniana collections.
“We would like Manila to reclaim its place in Philippine fashion and culture, promote our local artists and the shops on Divisoria that play a big role in the textile trade. Manila offers a wide variety of inspiration and source of materials,” Manila Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan said.
The event is part of the month-long celebration of Manila City's 452nd founding anniversary.
Rampa Manila Director for Creatives Bang Pineda said the modern Filipiniana collection aims to introduce fashion to the young generation as the new “go-to” outfit even in casual events.
Miss Manila 2023 candidates will be wearing the collections together with surprise models, Pineda said.
